About Reece Quiñones
Creative leader. Brand strategist.
Designer. Storyteller. Educator. Producer.

The Person Behind the Work
I’m Reece Quiñones. My practice connects brand strategy, creative direction, hands-on design, teaching, and mentoring. I build creative teams and capabilities, develop new lines of business, and bring audience insight into the decisions that shape the work.
My experience spans agency, newspaper, nonprofit, and corporate environments. Across those settings, I’ve learned to connect business objectives with the people, ideas, and processes needed to bring them to life.
I use research and campaign insights throughout the creative process to refine the message, strengthen the brand, and help every creative investment work harder.

A Continuing Practice
Teaching and mentoring keep learning at the center of my practice. I’m interested in how emerging technologies can make learning more engaging, accessible, and effective, and in what independent film can teach us about storytelling and collaboration.
My studio, painting, and time in nature give me space to observe, explore, and return to the work with a fresh perspective.
Explore Teaching ↗I’m exploring how AI is changing graphic design, creative operations, and design education. Through 9th Collective Lab, I’m developing approaches that expand what designers can do while preserving authorship, critical thinking, and craft.
Explore 9th Collective Lab ↗Giving Back
Design is strengthened by the people who share what they know and make room for others. Giving back through professional service, scholarship support, mentoring, and community conversations is part of how I practice.
I serve on the AIGA DC Design Continuum Fund Scholarship Committee and the DCF Endowment Governance Board, supporting opportunities for emerging designers.
I served as AIGA–Mason faculty liaison in 2016–2017 and delivered the 2020 Design Continuum Fund scholarship keynote and fundraiser remarks.
Mentoring through Shine and individual relationships creates opportunities to share experience, build confidence, and learn from one another.
Community contributions have included a mentoring presentation with Teo Blindu in Berlin, design presentations and workshops, and an AIGA DC panel on parenting and work-life balance.
Judging student and professional work offers another way to contribute to the creative community. My service has included:

Coming full circle is at the heart of nine: bringing what I learn back into what I make. It is a number with a curious pattern, and a personal connection.
9th Collective brings my perspectives together while giving credit to the people who help bring the work to life.
