A little more about nine +
Good ideas come
full circle.
Sometimes a number becomes a way of seeing.
Follow the circle ↓01 / A small discovery
A circle.
A sum.
A return.
A full circle is 360 degrees. Add those digits: 3 + 6 + 0 = 9. Halve the angle, and the pattern continues through 180, 90, and 45 degrees.
Try each turn. Watch where the numbers take you.
3 + 6 + 0 = 9
02 / Keep exploring
Nine has a way
of coming back.
Multiply nine by a positive whole number. Add the digits of the answer, then keep adding until one digit remains. You arrive at nine.
This base-ten number pattern is called a digital root. The mathematics is an observation; the meaning I draw from it is personal.
03 / Back to the work
Return with
something new.
For me, coming full circle means bringing what I learn back into what I make. Practice informs teaching. Teaching sparks questions. Questions lead to exploration. And exploration changes the next piece of work.
Nine also has personal roots: the nine elements and nine principles I use as a starting point for design, and the ninth day of the month, when I was born. 9th Collective brings these perspectives together, alongside the people who help bring the work to life.
